London is getting a taste of Japan’s crate-digging culture this August as J-Digs lands at Goodhood for its first UK pop-up.
The four-day takeover begins on Thursday 6 August, with a special launch evening running from 7pm–10pm at Goodhood in Shoreditch. The opening night will feature a DJ set from Wolf Tapes, setting the tone with a selection inspired by Japanese artists and rare vinyl discoveries. It’s an opportunity for record collectors, music fans and creatives to get an early look at the J-Digs collection and meet others drawn to Japan’s endlessly influential music culture.
From Friday 7 through Sunday 9 August, the pop-up will open from 11am until late, bringing together Japanese vintage vinyl, collectibles, exclusive J-Digs merchandise and a selection of records spanning City Pop, J-Jazz and other essential sounds from Japan.
The timing is particularly fitting, with legendary guitarist Masayoshi Takanaka playing a sold-out show at Crystal Palace Bowl on Friday 7 August. His music will also feature in the J-Digs collection, making the pop-up a natural stop for anyone heading to the show or simply looking to dig deeper into Japan’s rich musical history.
For vinyl heads, Japanese music obsessives and anyone who enjoys getting lost in a good record shop, J-Digs’ London debut looks like one worth digging into.
