Jack Garrett shares new single 'Higher'

Multi-award-winning artist Jack Garratt returns with 'Higher', the third electrifying taste of his forthcoming album 'Pillars', due out on the 15th August via Cooking Vinyl.

Following the high-energy singles 'Ready! Steady! Go!' and 'Catherine Wheel', 'Higher' dives even deeper into Garratt’s blend of raw emotion and fearless exploration. Written in Johan Hugo’s Margate studio (Self Esteem, Santigold, Moonchild Sanelly), the track began as a delicate chord progression that quickly evolved into a genre-bending storm.

“Johan had this gorgeous and emotive progression,” Jack recalls. “I was listening to Son Lux again, who inspired my first record. This sparse, evocative melody just emerged. Then, coming off my club EP, I instinctively added a house beat… but it needed more chaos. On day two, we swapped in a breakbeat — and suddenly the song started running away with itself.”

That infectious, runaway energy defines 'Higher', marrying tension and euphoria in a sound that feels both vulnerable and unstoppable.

“I wrote ‘Higher’ as a plea,” Jack shares. “It’s about recognising the ways I’ve walked willingly into heartbreak — how it’s not always about the people I’ve loved, but the patterns I’ve chosen. It’s me asking someone not to build me up when they know they won’t stay. It’s vulnerable, naïve, human.”
