Joy Crookes delivers new single 'Carmen'

South London’s Joy Crookes is back with ‘Carmen’, a bold and brilliant single that blends her unmistakable voice with punchy percussion and lyrical fire. Released alongside a striking visual, the track delivers a cutting critique of Eurocentric beauty standards and the exclusion of brown and Black women from mainstream ideals.

Playful in delivery but profound in message, ‘Carmen’ sees Joy at her sharpest yet, balancing biting humour with unfiltered truth. “It’s for the women that I really admire,” she shares, “those who’ve been sidelined because of how they look, think, or speak up. This one’s for them.”

As her fourth single in a new wave of music, ‘Carmen’ further solidifies Crookes as one of the UK’s most vital voices—fearless, soulful, and unafraid to challenge the status quo with style and substance.
