Written in direct response to the UK Supreme Court’s controversial ruling on the legal definition of sex, the track stands as a bold statement of solidarity with the trans community and a fierce rejection of transphobia dressed as feminism.
'GERM' arrives at a time when Nash might have taken a well-earned break, fresh off a sold-out UK and EU tour, and the launch of her first-ever fan-led music survey. But for an artist who’s long championed equality and inclusion, staying silent wasn’t an option.
“Using feminism to erase the rights of others is inherently un-feminist,” Nash explains. “Denying that trans people exist and wanting to remove them from public life because it makes you uncomfortable—that’s not feminism, it’s bigotry.”
