After returning late last year to release his latest solo album 'Fatherland', Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke has now announced his latest project, soundtracking a new play coming to London next year.
The new stage performance 'Leave To Remain' sees the singer collaborate with fellow composer Matt Jones, and tells the story of a gay couple and the turmoil it creates in both of their respective families.
Speaking about the play, Okereke said, "Leave to Remain is the story of what happens when a marriage forces two very different families to come together. For the music for this project I took cues from the records that my parents would play in our house when I was growing up, West African high-life music, and I tried to combine those sounds with the electronic dance music I hear in clubs today. It was important to me to make something that represented the meeting of two very different worlds.”
'Leave To Remain' will run at London's Lyric Hammersmith from 18th January to 16th February 2019, and you can check out the new single 'Not The Drugs Talking', taken from the soundtrack, in the player below.
