Klaverson - 'Above Ground'

7/10

On his second EP 'Above Ground', Klaverson pushes beyond the introspective intimacy of his earlier material and steps into a brighter, more assertive creative space. The UK artist-producer channels a spirit of resilience and quiet triumph across seven tracks that blend electronic textures with soulful warmth.

Opening with 'Better Man', Klaverson sets the tone with a sweeping anthem on personal growth, while his unmistakable voice rings with both vulnerability and resolve. It’s a brave entry point that instantly signals a new chapter.

But the standout single 'Rising' is a rush of energy and determination. Its heartbeat-like rhythm and soaring melodies conjure the buzz of running headlong toward something bigger than yourself. Midway through, 'Higher Now' glows with shimmering layers and hushed introspection. There’s a tenderness here, a sense of floating above old doubts and emerging renewed.

While on 'There For Me', he leans into heartfelt gratitude, weaving silky harmonies into a track that feels like an warm embrace. The groove-driven 'Bet On You' stands as a rallying cry for self-trust, balancing crisp beats with soul-laced melodies that encourage listeners to take the leap. Closing track 'First Time' is the EP's epilogue, cinematic and delicately layered, it leaves us with a sense of openness and fresh possibility.

Klaverson’s gift lies in his ability to blur genre lines without losing emotional focus. Drawing from the worlds of James Blake, Bonobo, and Maribou State, he merges electronic soundscapes with a deeply human touch. His production feels tactile, his lyrics unguarded yet universally resonant.

With this release, Klaverson cements his place as an artist unafraid to move between shadows and light, and invites us all to rise with him.
