Låpsley announces new album 'I’M A HURRICANE I’M A WOMAN IN LOVE'

Låpsley returns with the announcement of her forthcoming fourth studio album 'I’M A HURRICANE I’M A WOMAN IN LOVE', set for release on the 2nd May via Her Own Recordings—her first fully independent release. The announcement arrives alongside the album’s lead single 'BETTER', a deeply vulnerable and emotive track that captures the growth, grief, and healing that come with evolving relationships.

Marking a bold new chapter for the Southport-born singer, songwriter, and producer, 'I’M A HURRICANE I’M A WOMAN IN LOVE' finds Låpsley embracing a more indie-pop-influenced sound, stepping away from the electronic landscapes that shaped her early work. The album was born from a period of personal upheaval, with Låpsley using songwriting and poetry as a means of processing pain, confusion, and self-discovery.

New track 'BETTER' follows last year’s brilliant single 'CHURCH', which marked Låpsley’s first independent release in over a decade. The track, which premiered on BBC 6 Music and received Radio 1 support, served as the official launch of Her Own Recordings—a label and community that is 100% artist-owned, advocating for artistic independence and challenging the industry’s patriarchal structures.

“BETTER is about meeting someone that makes you want to change your life,” she explains. “A good partner or friend holds up a mirror in the most beautiful and vulnerable way. My artistry is shape-shifting, as my personal life is, for the better.”
