LANDROID invites viewers deeper into its cinematic desert universe with the new video for ‘Hank The Dragon’, a visually symbolic exploration of the fear, guilt and lingering tenderness that follow a life-altering mistake.
Throughout the new visuals, the High Desert outfit use shifting shadows and vivid flashes of colour to capture its emotional tensions. Darkness becomes a representation of uncertainty and remorse, while the brighter passages suggest moments when human connection briefly breaks through the weight surrounding it.
“We wanted to tell the story visually instead of literally,” the band explains. “The shadows represent the uncertainty, fear, and guilt that follow a mistake, while the colors are the moments of connection that keep breaking through. The song asks if love is still there beneath everything, and the visuals ask the same question.”
That approach proves particularly well suited to LANDROID, whose music has always carried a strong sense of atmosphere and imagined landscape. Based in Landers, California, they create work deeply informed by the scale and stillness of their surroundings.
The group arrived there after decades spent performing within different corners of Los Angeles punk and rock. Once settled in the High Desert, their sound grew increasingly expansive, combining bass, keys, drums and programmed sequences into music that feels both intimate and vast.
