With her eagerly-awaited debut EP set to land in the coming months, Amsterdam-based, Cologne-born producer and singer-songwriter Luna Morgenstern is back to share the next cut lifted from her forthcoming collection.
The new single 'Done' follows on from her previously shared debut single 'In My Head' in previewing her new EP 'Taking The Blow', which is out on the 8th July.
According to the press release, Luna wrote 'Done' after a huge argument with her father. She had told him that she wanted to quit her job at a renowned music supervision company to pursue a career as a solo artist, which he didn’t support. “It was the worst fight we ever had and with my father being my best friend, it was very hard on us both,” she explains. Regardless, Luna stood her ground and liberated herself from her father’s expectations. “I felt powerful, independent and light,” she says.
Adding, “It’s a song that I want to gift to those who have felt oppressed, patronised, judged, confined and unsupported. I sing this to all the women who are brought up to please the male gaze (whether it's intentional or not). ‘Done’ is about finding independence, it's an ode to freedom, to being alive and it is a reminder to be more loving to yourself and to acknowledge your own worth.”
