Mac DeMarco has unveiled 'Holy', the second single from his upcoming album 'Guitar', due out on the 22nd August via Mac’s Record Label. Following the nostalgic tones of previous track 'Home', 'Holy' finds DeMarco turning inward once again, this time through the lens of faith, doubt, and existential unease.
A slow-burning, almost prayer-like ballad, 'Holy' sees Mac softly intoning lines like “Miracle, reveal yourself to me / Your help could set me free,” before spiralling into a darker conclusion: “Curse, carried on forever in me.” It’s a sparse yet evocative track, typical of DeMarco’s recent introspective pivot, where the charm lies in the space between the words.
The self-shot video, as always, brings his unmistakable offbeat humour to the surface. “I waded around in the ocean fully clothed for a couple hours and completely filled my boots with seawater,” he explains. “There were some other shots on some rocks I kept trying too, but in the end the clip of me falling in the garden and eating the apple was best. Thank you for listening.”
