Western Australian singer-songwriter Mark Moule is breathing new life into a song that has quietly waited a decade to be heard. ‘Eyes of Izzy’ is a heartfelt folk-inspired single that tells the story of Izzy Orlof, the photographer credited with bringing the camera to Western Australia.
The track began as an unexpected collaboration between Moule and Fremantle-based musician Paul Curtis, who approached him while working on a university project exploring Orlof’s life and legacy. What started as an academic assignment quickly evolved into something far more personal, with Moule crafting the lyrics while drawing inspiration from his own experiences of isolation, uncertainty and longing for home.
For the frontman, ‘Eyes of Izzy’ represents a unique moment in his songwriting journey. Unlike much of his catalogue, which focuses on personal experiences, this release centres on another person’s story while still reflecting the emotions and challenges he was navigating at the time.
