Marketplace return with razor-sharp new single

Marketplace are back with 'Play Nice!', a punchy, guitar-driven diss track that channels pent-up frustration into one of their most direct and infectious cuts to date.

Produced by Chad Rodgers (Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Cape Cub, Finn Forster), the track sees the Hartlepool five-piece operating with a new sense of fearlessness. Bright guitar tones, driving drums and subtle synths build a buoyant, breezy backdrop for Evie Rhodes' melodic and charismatic lead vocal — but don't let the hooks fool you. Beneath the surface, this is a track with teeth.

"It was born from being thrown into the kind of situation I hadn't been in since secondary school," Rhodes explains. "It's basically years of frustrations boiling up to the surface that I wished I'd been able to express at the time." Equal parts cathartic and cutting, 'Play Nice!' is the sound of someone who has well and truly run out of patience — and it suits them.

The single arrives ahead of a landmark run of US showcases, with the band set to appear at New Colossus Festival in New York and SXSW in Texas this March — a major milestone for the North East outfit and a clear sign of their growing international momentum. It's also the first of a series of releases planned throughout 2026, suggesting Marketplace have plenty more to say.

'Play Nice!' is out NOW via Singing Light / Wipe Out Music. Stream in the player below.
