MatAre unveils new single 'When Alone'

Atlanta-based artist MatAre shares his latest release 'When Alone', a moody and contemplative new single. Known for blending emotional clarity with minimalism, MatAre took on the roles of writer, performer, and producer, choosing to keep the creative process deliberately solitary to preserve the song’s intimate feel.

Drawing influence from acts like The Cure, Wild Nothing, and The Smiths, 'When Alone' embraces space, subtlety, and repetition over flashy hooks. The song reflects on the blurred lines between physical and emotional homes, shaped by MatAre’s dual-life split between travel and remote living.

Recorded in Fort Walton Beach, Florida during a rare southern snowstorm, the release marks a return to his earlier work, and offers a taste of his upcoming shoegaze-influenced EP 'Brevity', due next month.
