Having spent the infancy of their career pushing out a non-stop torrent of EPs, albums and new releases, electronic duo Mount Kimbie had remained uncharacteristically quiet for the last few years. Not releasing anything since their 2013 album 'Cold Spring Fault Less Youth', the pair finally make their return with their third studio album 'Love What Survives', which looks to continue their impressive reputation as one of the best electronic outfits working in the UK today.

While some of their previous material has been a mix of high-energy club anthems and brooding post-dubstep soundscapes, this new record is filled with a more cohesive energy, opting for an almost trip-hop direction in double time. A number of high-profile collaborations with the likes of James Blake and King Krule certainly help to embed this more succinct direction, aiding in the album's darker disposition.

It may feel like a far cry from their early work in places, but this is simply what happens when artists take a step back from their work for a while. 'Love What Survives' is a progressive and evolutionary record for the group, and one that will go down as a fan favourite in the near future.
