My Morning Jacket deliver new single 'Squid Ink'

My Morning Jacket dive deep into murky waters with their latest single 'Squid Ink'. The propulsive, heavy-hitting track is anchored by Tom Blankenship’s thunderous basslines and Patrick Hallahan’s relentless drumming, setting the stage for Jim James’ shape-shifting vocals in one of the band’s most warped and immersive tracks yet.

Accompanying the release is a visually arresting, psychedelic music video. Directed by Danny Clinch, the video is an otherworldly, mind-bending experience that complements the track’s dense sonic layers.

“The idea behind ‘Squid Ink’ is that certain people carry a negativity that fills the room like a squid shooting ink into the water,” says Jim James, revealing that the track emerged from a basement jam session with Hallahan. “It’s about trying to get out of those murky waters by believing in yourself.”

'Squid Ink' is the second single from My Morning Jacket’s eagerly awaited 10th studio album 'is', set for release on the 21st March via ATO Records. Produced by 3x GRAMMY® Award-winner Brendan O’Brien (Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam), the album marks the band’s first full-length release in over three years.
