Reading indie-rock band The Race have returned with 'D of E', their first new release following the band's reunion after a decade away from making music together. This self-produced single marks a thoughtful new chapter for a group whose members have spent the intervening years raising families and gathering the life experiences that now shape their songwriting.
Blending expansive guitars, layered arrangements and understated emotion, 'D of E' reflects on commitment, family life and the changing seasons people move through together. But instead of simply chasing nostalgia, the track embraces maturity, pairing intimate storytelling with a widescreen indie-rock sound reminiscent of bands such as Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene and The Maccabees.
The Race previously released two albums, recorded sessions for BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6Music, and appeared at both Reading and Truck Festival, earning early praise from NME for their emotional songwriting. With 'D of E', the band return with a song that reflects both where they've been and the perspective they've gained along the way.
