Stevenage artist Ravens Beats makes a striking introduction with debut single ‘Trauma’, a deeply personal release that aims to encourage more open conversations around mental health and the lasting impact of loss.
Created in collaboration with vocalist Viii Dorsey, whom Ravens Beats met through the Music Production for Women programme, the single blends atmospheric production with emotionally charged lyrics to explore how trauma can remain long after difficult experiences have passed. Recorded in a home studio, the collaboration came together during Dorsey's visit to the UK, with her vocal performance captured in a single session.
The song is rooted in Ravens Beats' own experiences, including the loss of a partner to mental health struggles in 2015. That experience also inspired the single's artwork, which features an image from life-saving surgery the artist later underwent after being encouraged to seek treatment for sleep apnoea.
