Reetoxa shares new single 'Timor Leste'

Some experiences never truly leave us, and for Melbourne-based songwriter Jason McKee, the memories of his military deployment to East Timor have become the inspiration behind Reetoxa's deeply moving new single, ‘Timor Leste’.

Drawing upon his experiences aboard HMAS Manoora in 2006, the track transforms the emotional aftermath of conflict into an ambitious musical narrative, exploring fear, trauma and the memories that continue to haunt those who have witnessed extraordinary circumstances.

Recorded at The Avenue Studio in Cheltenham, the single features an accomplished lineup including Jet drummer Peter Marin, Robbie Williams bassist Kit Riley, Men at Work guitarist James Ryan and pianist Terry White.

Working alongside producer Simon Moro, McKee allows the song's emotional narrative to shape its unconventional structure, prioritising authenticity and storytelling over traditional songwriting formulas.

With an ambitious 22-track double album planned for early 2027, Reetoxa continue to demonstrate their creative ambition.
