Sadcult return with grungy new single

Weymouth alternative-rock trio Sadcult return with new single 'Outcry', a release that builds on the band's growing reputation for pairing heavy guitars with emotionally charged songwriting. Released on 17th July, the track finds the trio leaning further into the grunge and alternative rock influences that have shaped their sound, while retaining the melodic instincts that have become a defining feature of their recent work.

Driven by distorted riffs, crashing drums and an anthemic chorus, 'Outcry' balances its weight with moments of genuine vulnerability. Frontman Sam Newland delivers a commanding vocal performance, moving between restrained verses and explosive refrains as the song explores the frustrations that come with growing older and watching youthful expectations give way to reality.

Recorded primarily in the band's home studio, with drums tracked at Orchard Studios in Glastonbury and mixed by Joe Marsh, the single benefits from a production that captures both the immediacy of a live performance and the clarity needed to let its hooks land. While echoes of '90s grunge and early-2000s alternative rock are easy to spot, Sadcult continue to shape those influences into something that feels distinctly their own.

Speaking about the track, the band describe 'Outcry' as a song open to interpretation, centred on the experience of growing up, losing faith in long-held expectations and learning to navigate the disappointment that inevitably follows. Musically, they cite early Green Day and Nirvana as key influences behind the single's driving energy and uncompromising attitude.

The release follows a period of steady momentum for the trio, who have helped cultivate Weymouth's grassroots alternative scene while building a loyal following beyond their hometown. Recent appearances alongside The Jins, Sick Joy and James and the Cold Gun, as well as a sold-out hometown headline show, have further established Sadcult as one of the South Coast's most promising emerging alternative acts.

With 'Outcry', the band deliver another confident step forward, pairing raw intensity with memorable songwriting in a way that suggests there's plenty more to come.
