Mayo singer-songwriter Sarah Keane returns with 'One for the Team', a quietly devastating yet clear-eyed reflection on the emotional toll of staying in a relationship out of obligation rather than love. Known for her intimate songwriting and the ability to turn everyday moments into poignant narratives, Keane delivers another standout in her growing catalogue.
Written in collaboration with Naosan Moore, 'One for the Team' finds Keane examining the myth that love should always be fought for, when, in reality, sometimes the kindest thing is to let go. “There’s this belief that if two people care enough, they can make it work,” she says. “But sometimes it just makes both of you miserable. This is a song about choosing to stop trying, not out of apathy, but compassion.”
The track was recorded and produced by Dave Skelton (Aimee Carty) in Galway and mastered by Aidan Foley (Sinead O’Connor, U2), giving it a polished, emotionally resonant sound that lifts Keane’s lyrical honesty to new heights.
