Wiltshire indie duo Shapes Like People have unveiled their new single 'Lately', which serves as the fourth and final preview of their forthcoming album 'Under the Rainbow', which is scheduled to arrive on the 17th April via Jangleshop Records.
Formed by husband-and-wife collaborators Carl and Kat Mann, the Downton-based project blends shimmering indie pop textures with elements of jangle pop and shoegaze. 'Lately' begins with a calm, understated verse before opening into a vibrant chorus built on bright guitar layers and soaring vocal harmonies, revealing a track that balances softness with emotional lift.
Carl Mann describes the song as one of the most rewarding moments on the upcoming album, explaining that while other songs may be more immediately catchy, 'Lately' is the one that lingers most strongly in his mind. Written during moments of emotional weight and reflection, the track explores mood swings and the pressures of everyday life, while also offering a sense of release through the songwriting process.
Recorded, produced, mixed, and mastered by Carl Mann, 'Lately' sets the tone for 'Under the Rainbow', a twelve-track record built around melodic guitar work and layered vocal arrangements that continue to define Shapes Like People’s evolving sound.
