Amman-based collective Shmeisani Jazz Massive have unveiled their powerful new single 'As War Starts!', a release born from improvisation and shaped by real-time events.
The group, formed in Jordan’s culturally rich Shmeisani district, recorded their self-titled debut album through a series of live, improvised sessions. Captured in a basement studio in the neighbourhood that inspired their name, the recordings reflect a raw, unfiltered creative process driven entirely by the musicians involved.
'As War Starts!' stands as the project’s most striking moment. Recorded on the very night a new conflict began in the Middle East, the track closes with the sound of air raid sirens; an unplanned but deeply affecting detail that grounds the music in lived experience.
Entirely self-produced and later mastered in the United States, the release blends decades of musical influence into a singular, expressive voice.
