London and Ware-based project Silverhours introduces a significant change in direction with ‘Swan Dive’, the first single from a forthcoming album expected in early 2027.
The project of musician Elia Gruzdew, Silverhours previously operated around lo-fi electronics, but ‘Swan Dive’ moves towards a more organic and distinctly nocturnal sound. Recorded at London’s RAK Studios with Shuta Shinoda, who also mixed the record, the track initially conjures the intimacy of a late-night jazz club before gradually allowing something more uneasy to creep into the atmosphere.
Against the backdrop of contemporary warfare, the lyrics draw upon the dystopian ideas of George Orwell, considering propaganda, manipulation and the gradual distortion of reality.
‘Swan Dive’ suggests that experimentation will take a noticeably different form on the project’s next album, replacing much of the debut’s electronic intimacy with something darker, richer and increasingly unpredictable.
