Just days before their biggest UK show to date at Camden’s Roundhouse, Squid return with 'The Hearth And Circle Round Fire', a blistering, dystopia-tinged track originally recorded during the 'Cowards' sessions.
“It’s a punky tune that came together quite easily,” says drummer and vocalist Ollie Judge, “but we felt dissatisfied with that ease, so we recorded a 15-minute jam, ripped it apart, and taped it back together.” The result is a jagged, propulsive cut inspired by the ominous futures of Fahrenheit 451 and They, with lyrics exploring mass censorship and the fragile resistance that remains.
To celebrate the Roundhouse milestone, the band will host a special merch pop-up at the Colonel Fawcett on April 25–26, offering limited deluxe vinyl editions of Cowards, exclusive items created with Music Declares Emergency, and a special Cowards beer brewed in collaboration with Gan Yam.
