Irish multi-instrumentalist and producer Conor Waters, the creative force behind Stepping On Lego, returns with 'Teen in the Eighties'. The single serves as the final glimpse into Waters’ forthcoming debut album 'Wide Eyes', arriving on the 12th September.
Fusing retro-futuristic textures with razor-sharp alt-pop hooks, 'Teen in the Eighties' is both a throwback and a critique; a cinematic protest against the curated chaos of modern life. Through lines like “We’re drowning in a cloud-based nightmare”, Waters delivers a poignant reflection on identity, disconnection, and the longing for something real in a world dominated by performative digital noise.
“The song contrasts the simplicity of past youth with today’s hyperconnectivity,” Waters explains. “It’s a call to reclaim authenticity.”
Known for his genre-blending sound and emotionally resonant production, Waters draws influence from M83, Daft Punk, and Hans Zimmer. A classically trained pianist and practicing doctor in Dublin, his dual life adds depth and clarity to his sonic storytelling.
