Stereolab share new single 'Transmuted Matter'

Stereolab share 'Transmuted Matter', the final preview of their first studio album in 15 years, 'Instant Holograms On Metal Film', out this Friday 23rd May. The announcement comes exactly 15 years after the band first revealed their hiatus in 2010, marking a full-circle moment for the beloved avant-pop pioneers.

The record’s creation was sparked in mid-2023 and began recording in early 2024. “There were no rehearsals, as usual,” says Tim Gane. “Always a beginner” is my attitude to things, just feeling my way through.”

Laetitia Sadier reflects on her expanded role in shaping the album’s sound: “I had much more musical input than before. Developing my own music over the years surely nourished the sound and general configuration of this LP.”
