Swans - 'The Glowing Man'

8/10

After the unparalleled critical success of their 2014 album 'To Be Kind', Swans return to form with their highly-anticipated follow-up 'The Glowing Man'. Now reaching an impressive fourteen studio albums, the band have once again delivered us an insight into their collective experimentation and shown that the spark of their inspirations is far from dying out.

What made 'To Be Kind' such a huge success was the engaging riffs and memorable aspects of the song's productions, something the band have realised and continued on throughout this new record. While the long, strung-out soundscapes still take on the bulk of the release's sound, there is still enough here to keep you interested and engaged throughout.

It may not have that instant appeal 'To Be Kind' had, but this is definitely one of those "grower" albums. Something that may sound too strange to begin with, but just like other records like it, loving will come easy in time.
