Legendary UK underground favourites Tabitha Zu are finally bringing their fierce debut single ‘Heard It Before’ to streaming platforms, giving a new generation the chance to experience one of the most electrifying hidden gems of the early 90s alternative scene.
Released via Eira Records, the track originally appeared in 1991 as part of a limited split 7-inch alongside Homage Freaks, quickly earning a reputation for its feral energy, crashing intensity and hypnotic atmosphere. Blending raw punk spirit with ethereal textures, ‘Heard It Before’ became a standout moment in the band’s catalogue, gaining praise from NME, Melody Maker and Sounds while reaching No.15 in the UK Indie Chart.
Fronted by Melanie Garside, the band tore through the UK alternative circuit in the early 90s, sharing stages with Nirvana, Public Enemy and Suede while building a reputation for chaotic, unforgettable live performances. More than thirty years later, ‘Heard It Before’ still feels urgent, visceral and impossible to ignore, offering a thrilling reminder of just how fearless Tabitha Zu truly were.
