The Vaccines - 'English Graffiti'

7/10

With already two incredibly well-received albums under their belt, The Vaccines have become one of the most successful outputs of British music in the last decade. But with an ever-growing fanbase throughout the world, this new record seems them take on a sound that will soon help fill the stadium-sized performances they are likely to be taking in the coming months.

While the first two albums are packed with catchy, three-minute rock-pop anthems, 'English Graffiti' sees them turning their reverb up to max and conceiving a record with all the punch and power of a modern day Arctic Monkeys. The full-length flips between the spritely and energetic to the broody and anthemic with incredible ease, all the while showing an undeniable conviction within their songwriting that makes every song as engaging as the last and displaying a huge range of confidence in the process.

This may be a far cry from the sound of their former releases, but definitely shows that maturity becomes them. It is a forward-thinking record that mirrors that state of the band's career so far and shows that The Vaccines are far from falling to the wayside just yet.
