Vistas - 'Everything Changes In The End'

8/10

Over the last two decades, we have seen the indie-rock scene in the UK move from a fun and lively sound to something more pretentious and back again. This kind of flexing momentum has given the sound a diverse yet engaging appeal that always looks to throw up something fresh and exciting from time to time. And it looks like the Edinburgh-based trio Vistas have their sights set on becoming the next big name on the horizon as they deliver their highly-anticipated debut album 'Everything Changes In The End', a bright and joyous slice of indie-pop gold.

Following that euphoric, radio-friendly direction that The Vaccines, Circa Waves and Sea Girls have been showcasing these last few years, 'Everything Changes In The End' is simply one of those uplifting and upbeat records that looks to put a smile on the face of anyone who listens to it. Much like what Two Door Cinema Club did on their debut effort 'Tourist History', this new full-length is packed to the brim with catchy, singalong anthems that were built for the festival circuit (if we still had one), giving Vistas a direction that is always building on what came before it and creating something truly enjoyable from start to finish.

It may not have the most original sound going, but what it does it does well. Things may still be in their infancy for Vistas, but 'Everything Changes In The End' is the bold and bouncing studio release we all need in our lives right now. Something to shake off the lockdown blues and give us something to lose our minds to once again.
