The Yacht Club share the anniversary edition of 'The Great Misadventure'

UK math-rock/emo outfit The Yacht Club return with 'The Greatest Misadventure (Anniversary Edition)', a refreshed take on one of their earliest full-band recordings.

Originally emerging as a solo project from frontperson Marcus Gooda, the now four-piece, spanning London and Norwich, use this release as a way of revisiting their foundations while gearing up for their next full-length chapter.

The rerecorded version leans heavily into the band’s intricate musicianship, with sharp, interlocking guitar lines and precise rhythmic shifts taking centre stage. There’s a clear emphasis on technicality here, nodding to the influence of modern math-rock and virtuosic players, while still retaining the emotional pull of Midwest emo.

Longtime collaborator Tom Hill returns on guitar for this version, adding another layer of familiarity to a track rooted in the band’s early evolution. The result both honours the original while sharpening its edges for a new era.

With a second album already completed and on the horizon, 'The Greatest Misadventure (Anniversary Edition)' feels like a deliberate bridge between past and future, showcasing a band refining both their sound and their technical identity.
