With New York alt-rockers Blonde Redhead having fallen silent since the release of their ninth studio album 'Barragán' in 2014, the band's frontwoman Kazu Makino has now announced her plans for a new solo project.
Going simply by the name KAZU, the singer's latest single 'Salty' sees her team up with Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto on piano, chimes, triangle, and loops, as well as Atom For Peace's Mauro Refosco on percussion, and previews her first solo LP 'Adult Baby', which is set to arrive later this year.
Speaking about the new venture, she said, "The title came to me when an old friend told me about the existence of so-called "adult baby club", frequented by powerful men who go there to be treated like small children. This discovery struck me, perhaps because I am convinced that in a way, we are all adult babies, that many people feel that way inside and that they identify with this expression. Each in his own way: Adult Baby is a title that can be taken in many ways; some will think it curious, others erotic, others still strange or tender: it all depends on how you see it."
