After the release of their self-titled debut album back in 2014, Canadian indie-rock outfit Alvvays gathered a huge cult following. Their unique ability of managing to create engaging yet down-beaten pop music made them an instant hit around the world, and now the group look to follow-up their success with the release of their eagerly-anticipated sophomore album 'Antisocialities', a record that almost manages to match its predecessor.

While the sound of this new full-length hasn't really moved on much, the band are still able to create an enjoyable collection of tracks that will appease their newfound fanbase. The opener 'In Undertow' sets the tone of much of this record, with its brooding yet romantic disposition. But there are still plenty of upbeat moments to counteract the less energetic cuts, such as 'Plimsoll Punks' and 'Lollipop (Ode To Jim)' that give the release a sense of real joy.

It really does feel like an album of two halves when it comes to direction, which does help move it forward and give it a sense of consistent pace. It may not have that instant appeal that their debut managed, but 'Antisocialities' is still a fantastic record with loads to love.
