ARTIST OF THE WEEK: No.569 - Honey I'm Home

Honey I’m Home are back with their latest track 'Pretty', a vibrant reminder of the band’s soaring, guitar-led sound. Blending 90s alt-rock textures with hazy shoegaze, scrappy indie and flashes of emo, the five-piece continue to balance intimacy with explosive release, pairing thick layers of distortion with candid songwriting.

Formed by Thom Schotanus, Sofie Ooteman, Jasper Meurs, Hugo de Groot and Evelien Keesmaat, the band release 'Pretty' off the back of appearances at Reeperbahn and Left of the Dial, plus a European run supporting Third Man Records’ Hotline TNT. Upcoming dates include shows with LA outfit Rocket, a debut at SXSW in Austin, and further performances alongside Sweden’s Girl Scout.

Lyrically, 'Pretty' examines the impulse to use physical appearance as emotional armour. Rather than condemning image-consciousness, the song probes the loneliness that can sit beneath it, capturing the fixation and quiet despair that arise when validation becomes a substitute for self-worth. Brightly fuzzed guitars and hook-heavy melodies mask a darker reflection on identity, cynicism and the fragile comfort of thinking, “at least I look good.”
