Bleach Dreamer - 'If You Even Care'

7/10

Across three tightly wound tracks, Canada's Bleach Dreamer constructs a twilight universe where dancefloor shadows stretch into something cinematic and intimate. Their new collection 'If You Even Care' is midnight drive through flickering streetlights and half-remembered conversations.

Opening with 'Paradise Cove', the EP immediately leans into propulsion. The beat glides, but there’s also an undercurrent of urgency humming beneath the surface. Guitars shimmer with a distant glow, synth lines flicker like passing headlights, and the vocals hover somewhere between confession and daydream.

Then 'Not Another Happy Ending' sharpens the emotional edge, delivering a push and pull between romantic idealism and the awareness that things rarely resolve cleanly. The arrangement tightens around that internal conflict, as drums snap with quiet insistence while melodies bloom and recede. It’s the sound of someone trying to outrun the dawn.

By the time 'Diamond Eyes' closes the set, the atmosphere has deepened into something almost hypnotic. The rhythm sways, luminous and slightly disoriented, as if suspended between the final song at a club and the first light of morning. It’s sensual without being indulgent, and melancholy without collapsing into despair.

What makes 'Even If You Care' so compelling is its cohesion. Bleach Dreamer handles every layer with a clear sense of direction. The production is immersive but never cluttered, nostalgic in tone yet firmly rooted in the present. It sidesteps easy genre labels, preferring to let feeling dictate form.

For a first statement, 'Even If You Care' is strikingly assured as Bleach Dreamer introduce themselves with some truly immersive and profound listens here.
