There’s a beautiful confidence in how Books Of Moods approach atmosphere on 'Dreams'. Parisian bandleader Hugo Sailer rarely overwhelms these songs with unnecessary complexity or dramatic gestures. Instead, he trusts mood, melody, and emotional suggestion to carry the weight of the album.

Built across three years and entirely self-produced from his home studio, 'Dreams' feels astonishingly cohesive from beginning to end. Every track feeds naturally into the next, creating the sensation of wandering through interconnected emotional memories as it plays.

Opener 'Space, Pt. 1' drifts into view with almost ambient delicacy before giving way to the softer indie-pop warmth of 'Slow Day'. From there, the album unfolds like a faded scrapbook of imagined summers, unresolved romance, and emotional half-memories.

'Holidays' stands out as one of the album’s strongest moments, capturing the strange sadness hidden inside nostalgia for youth and friendship. Similarly, 'Sunday Mood' carries a quiet emotional ache that feels deeply relatable without ever becoming overly explicit.

Musically, the project blends classic influences with modern indie sensibilities beautifully. There are echoes of David Bowie’s melodic adventurousness alongside the understated emotional cool of Velvet Underground, yet 'Dreams' never feels derivative.

The closing track 'Amoureux' provides an intimate, bittersweet, and quietly devastating closer to see this out, gifting us one of his more emotionally powerful cuts to date.

At its core, 'Dreams' is an album about memory, longing, and emotional reconstruction. But more importantly, it understands that the most powerful feelings often arrive softly rather than loudly. Books Of Moods may still be at the beginning of their journey, but this debut already feels timeless in all the right ways.
