Caamp’s 'Drive' marks a poetic return and a lush prelude to their new album

With their trademark restraint and poetic resonance, Caamp ease back into our headphones with 'Drive', a track that offers a more subdued atmosphere, making space for reflection in a world that rarely slows down. It’s the band’s first offering from their upcoming record 'Copper Changes Color', and it finds them in a contemplative mood.

Where previous Caamp releases may have swelled with rustic exuberance or communal joy, 'Drive' is softer around the edges, carried by the earthy ache of singer Taylor Meier’s vocals and a delicate arrangement that feels both worn-in and familiar.

Produced in collaboration with Beatriz Artola and Tucker Martine, the track maintains Caamp’s organic charm while subtly broadening their musical palette. But don’t expect bombast; 'Drive' feels more like a whispered conversation between old friends than a grand reintroduction. It’s a tone-setter, the opening scene to a story still unfolding.

The lyrical imagery evokes both motion and stillness, rooted in personal metaphor but spacious enough for listeners to step inside. Meier’s voice, as weathered and sincere as ever, anchors the track, while the instrumentation glides beneath it like sunlight over an open road—subtle, sure, and quietly cinematic.

If 'Copper Changes Color' promises to explore the passage of time and the inevitability of change, then 'Drive' is its ignition. It invites us in gently, without drama or fanfare, but with all the gravity of lived experience and a deepening artistic maturity. This is Caamp, not reinvented, but grown—seasoned by time, loss, and the slow turning of the seasons.

Caamp's new album 'Copper Changes Color' is out on the 6th June via Mom+Pop Music, and you can watch the visualiser for 'Drive' in the player below.
