Casa Del Sol - 'Strange Angels'

7/10

When they broke through with their dynamic debut single 'You Make Me So High' near the end of last year, Californian newcomers Casa Del Sol established themselves as one of the more endearing names emerging on the scene. Taking their cues from a nostalgic, 70s-inspired pop-rock aesthetic and rebranding it for a modern ear, the band have been quick to make their mark as true innovators on the rise. And with that buzz continuing to grow, they are now looking to cement their legacy to date with their hotly-tipped debut album 'Strange Angels', a record that adds a shimmering approach to their vibrant direction to date.

Building upon the foundations that their initial offering brought forward, 'Strange Angels' makes for a wonderfully rich and spellbinding listen. Opening up with the euphoric 'Sing My Song', an effort that harks back to those progressive ideals of The Eagles and Wings, Casa Del Sol look to deliver something truly uplifting with this new nine-track collection. With each track usually clocking in at more than five minutes in length, their debut full-length is this broad and progressive experience, one that adds another vital layer to their already absorbing pursuits so far.

It may still be early days for the band right now, but 'Strange Angels' certainly looking to make a bold and impactful impression on the new music scene. Offering up some brilliantly alluring songwriting as often as possible, it certainly feels like Casa Del Sol are ones to keep a firm eye on for the months ahead as well.
