Com Truise - 'Iteration'

8/10

Despite this being the producer's first full-length since his 2011 debut 'Galactic Melt', Com Truise has hardly been twiddling his thumbs in that time. With a further three EPs under his belt since, production credits on Little Boots' latest release, and remix work for everyone from Deftones to Deadmau5, the producer is more than ready to return to the studio album format as he delivers his long-awaited sophomore LP 'Iteration'.

But despite never really leaving the production desk since his debut release, the producer has certainly evolved his sound in the time that he hasn't been releasing albums. 'Iteration' returns on the sound of an artist with a purpose to create a cohesive release that expands the senses as he takes on a more minimal and streamlined approach to his production. Each track has this rich tapestry of sound within it, yet still remains modestly produced with little filler.

This certainly feels more like an album should. Rather than just throw together a collection of new works, Com Truise has created a complimentary piece with a pace that ebbs and flows as all good records should. It feels like a journey and one we would gladly take again.
