After The Cribs released their "best of" album 'Payola' back in 2013, you would have thought that marked the end of the band's notably turbulent career. But two years later and three years after their last original release 'In The Belly Of The Brazen Bull', the Wakefield brothers are back with their sixth studio album 'For All My Sisters', and unlike what you might expect, it is all change for one of the UK's most loved cult bands.

As the first release since the band split from their founding label Wichita, The Cribs have taken on this record as a sort of new beginning for them. While much of it seems to run with that same trusted formula they have always relied on, this new work seems to want to highlight the band's more lyrically-led songwriting approach. Gone are the jarring guitar licks and replaced with sing-along choruses that give the album a more conventional feel that suits the band's more mature sound.

While it does seem like they have lost the energy and ferocity of their earlier albums, it is still record that fans of the band can enjoy without expecting too much of a fanfare. A positive release with some good ideas but not The Cribs we are used to.
