Eades - 'Delusion Spree'

7/10

Throughout the last couple of years, Eades have been a name we have become more and more familiar with. While only releasing sparsely unveiled singles and EPs since 2020, the Leeds-based quintet have been regularly catching our ear, thanks to a fresh and vibrant approach to the indie-rock sound. Regularly adopting diverse and adventurous tones within their work, their material to date has really stood above the crowd in both originality and captivation. And now the group look to cement themselves with their debut studio album 'Delusion Spree', a record that breathes another heady dose of excitement into their repertoire.

Choosing to record this new release in a live setting, taking cues from some of their heroes Parquet Courts, Pixies and The Strokes, 'Delusion Spree' has this instantly engaging sound to it. Continuing the direction that we have heard from them so far, their newest collection aims to create a broader and more cohesive aesthetic. While the blistering and energetic hooks remain a staple of their latest material, there are still plenty of moments that see the group strip things back to unveil a raw and passionate underbelly, offering up more of their enigmatic texture than ever before.

While still very much wearing their influences on their sleeve from start to finish, 'Delusion Spree' makes for a compelling initial listen. They aren't ones to break away from convention, but what they do they do very well, and give us a enjoyable array of upbeat cuts to get our feet moving.
