Fats Domino dies, aged 89

After a career that spanned more than 60 years, legendary rock n roll musician Fats Domino has died, aged 89.

In his incredible career, the singer and songwriter sold more than 65 million records and was the biggest selling artist in the rock n roll genre behind Elvis Presley. His debut single 'The Fat Man', released in 1955, is considered by many to be the first rock n roll record and led to many artists including Elvis Presley and The Beatles naming him as an influence.

He was inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame in 1986, but his commitment to music in his hometown of New Orleans meant that he never left the city, even to accept the award.

Listen again to one of his many hits 'Ain't That A Shame' in the player below.
