After releasing their debut album 'Blossoms' back in 2015, the latest band to be fronted by Frank Carter seemed to just be another extension of his ambitions to create ferocious and powerful punk rock. But now returning with their second studio full-length, the outfit seems to have broadened their horizons musically as they reemerge to deliver a far more succinct and cohesive release.

From the off, 'Modern Ruin' likes to be taken as a far more serious encounter. With strong influences from US outfits like The Bronx, the sound of this new album seems more refined as the band find their feet and manage to gel together far better. The result is an enjoyable and energetic record with all the hallmarks of a group that has taken their live experiences of what worked on their last release, and used it to create something with grit and gusto.

Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes have certain managed to deliver something special this time around. Every track has its own energy, and one that manages to ebb and flow just right in order to create a fantastic pace throughout this new release. A fantastic return from a band who are now realising their potential.
