Fruit Drop New Single ‘Racehorse Deathwatch’

Manchester/Liverpool-based post-rock sextet Fruit have released their powerful new single ‘Racehorse Deathwatch,’ -  a unique blend of dissonance, noise, and poetic lyricism. Produced by acclaimed producer Shuta Shinoda (Spiritualized, Ghostpoet, Hot Chip, Daughter), the track is a rich, multifaceted exploration of "punishment and retribution," as lead singer Josh explains.

"'Racehorse Deathwatch' is our fourth single.” Josh continues “Thematically, the lyrics are inspired by the work of Samuel Taylor-Coleridge and Mikhail Bulgakov, while the music takes cues from bands like 37500 Yens, Faraquet, and Slint,"

A 4-minute journey that jumps between intricate picked riffs and explosions of fuzzy noise, the track is led by Josh's stern yet yearning spoken-word vocals. As the band describes it, the sound is "like a morose and angry John Cooper Clarke fronting Mogwai."

Having already gained early support across Manchester radio stations and packing out venues across the country, Fruit are quickly building momentum. The band is set to play a string of notable shows this November and December, including supports for Meltheads in Sheffield, Tramhaus in Manchester, before heading to Paris for the ‘They’re Gonna Be Big’ Showcase.

With this release being only their fourth single, Fruit's unique, experimental approach see’s them growing a loyal fanbase, and their latest offering looks to be another powerful addition to their growing catalogue. Fans of challenging, evocative music would do well to keep an eye on this up-and-coming post-rock act.

LIVE DATES

November 14th – The Washington, Sheffield (Supporting Meltheads)

November 23rd – Castle Hotel Manchester (Supporting Tramhaus)

December 7th – Supersonic, Paris (‘They’re Gonna Be Big’ Showcase)
