What was the first instrument you fell in love with?

Electric guitar hands down. You couldn't tell me I wasn't a rockstar that just so happened to know how to rap.

What has been the most prominent inspiration behind your music so far?

Other peoples experiences. You'd be surprised at how many people can't find the words to tell their own stories, so i take it upon myself to do it for them.

What kind of music did you love as a teenager?

Honestly I listened to everything. Im a jamaican & english girl that was born and raised in south florida with 7 older siblings that all had different musical. My house hold was like a nightclub with a different DJ and genre in every room and I danced in all of them.

Can you remember the first song that made you want to pursue a life in music?

Funny thing is I grew up loving, writing and performing music. But I never actually wanted to pursue a career in it. I wanted to be a criminal psychologist and study serial killers on death row before they got fried. But I was in college writing songs instead of taking notes and I realised maybe I need to go where I'm being called.

Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?

At the moment, I absolutely love Victoria Monet. Shes an immaculate songwriter and artist. Jessie Reyez is another gem that I really enjoy. Kaytranada’s music is just insane and a must listen to on a Daily. Then theres Tinashe who has to be the dopest most slept on songwriter artist and performer ever. Also Lucky daye, Don Toliver, UMI, Ari Lennox, Moneybagg yo, and BadBadNotGood. Those are a few that I rotate in my playlist daily. Its a little hard to have a true current “favourite”. Theres so many great artist and a lot of great music out there.

How many of your songs have you written about people in your life?

I'd say 80% of them. But I never say names!

What has been the most unusual moment in your career so far?

It's the music industry. Every moment is an unusual one.

Outside of music, what is your biggest passion?

Coffee. I love everything about it lol. I actually own a line of coffee and company called “Grind Time Coffee Co.” that was inspired by all my late night studio sessions and a line of mugs called “MugaFuggas” inspired by the type of ppl I deal with daily lol. Both will be launching this fall!

If you weren’t a musician, what other path do you think you might have taken?

I'd be asking serial killers lots of questions.

And what advice would you give to other musicians looking to start a career in music?

Know who you're music speaks to. Find them and don't let up when you do.
