Following on from a flurry of new material over the last few months, Dublin-based artist Franki has now returned with his luxurious new single 'are u gonna'.
Channeling the rich and vibrant vibes of The 1975 and LANY, 'are u gonna' makes for wonderfully bright and euphoric return. Filled with dense and uplifting production, sweeping tones, and a gorgeous texture throughout, this new release looks set to see him become one of the most talked-about names emerging right now.
So with the new single available now, we sat down with him to find out more about his background and what has inspired him most over the years.

What was the first instrument you fell in love with?
I actually started off just singing and then wanted to accompany myself so I didn’t have to rely on anyone else to play music and guitar was what I just felt drawn to.
What kind of music did you love as a teenager?
I loved that like English Indie Rock scene. Arctic Monkeys, Foals, Everything Everything, Little Comets, Catfish and the Bottlemen.
What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?
'All I want for Christmas' by Mariah Carey straight up for the royalties.
Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?
I always try to just keep in mind why I’m doing this, to enjoy being creative and to not be disingenuous with my writing.
Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?
Little Simz. She’s immense. As well as that just a lot of upcoming Irish artists, I’m fairly infatuated with the talent we have in this country at the moment. Kynsy and Somebody’s Child have been two particular favourites.
How many of your songs have you written about people in your life?
Pretty much all of them have been inspired by someone in my life or around an experience with someone.
What has been the funniest or most unusual moment in your career so far?
Unfortunately my career is quite young and has spent its entirety in a global pandemic so not much to report on yet.
If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?
No one springs to mind to be honest. Maybe Kanye West just because why not.
If you weren’t a musician, what other path do you think you might have taken?
Underwear model.
And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?
Trust the process.
