What was the first instrument you fell in love with?

We have always wanted to play the drums, both of us, as it was the instrument that fascinated us the most. However, due to the limited space at home, noise issues with the neighbors, and the high cost of a drum kit, we never had the chance to study it. So now, here we are, neither of us plays the drums, so we create them on the computer instead.

What kind of music did you love when you were younger?

Indie rock, especially the British wave from the early 2000s, was the genre that changed our lives. Bloc Party, The Wombats, Arctic Monkeys…from when we were teenagers, it was a genre that shattered the limits of our musical imagination.

What was the first album you remember owning?

Andrea: The first album I remember owning was Silent Alarm by Bloc Party.

Pietro: St. Anger by Metallica. I remember listening to it once a day, every day, for an entire summer.

What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?

Andrea: “Somewhere I Belong” by Linkin Park

Pietro: “Mayonaise” by The Smashing Pumpkins

Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?

We don’t have particularly interesting rituals to share, but one thing we never do is listen to what we registered during the breaks between sessions. This way, we kind of forget what we wrote, and every time we listen to it again, we can feel how it hits us with fresh ears.

Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?

Andrea: Arbes, Terry vs. Tori, Skrillex

Pietro: DIIV, Wednesday, Overmono, Bring Me The Horizon

If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?

Andrea: Seapony

Pietro: DIIV

What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?

For us, one of the most meaningful aspects of making music is being able to connect with distant people through it. Creating emotions and feelings in individuals we never met, and maybe never will. People we don’t know, and who don’t know us.

And what is the most frustrating part?

The most frustrating part of making music today is that you often need to take care of your image more than the music itself, as the image can sell more than the music you’re creating. Your style, how you present yourself visually, and how you appear on social media. The type of communication you choose greatly determines the following you’ll build, and it’s hard to do it with simplicity and authenticity.

And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?

Remember to tune the guitar before entering on stage.
