Getting To Know... Miron

After establishing himself with his wonderfully enticing initial offerings 'With Your Eyes' and 'Plague' in recent years, Paris-based singer-songwriter Miron now returns for the new year with his sweeping new single 'Too Deep'.

So with the new single available to stream now, we sat down with him to find out more about his background and what has inspired him most over the years.

What was the first instrument you fell in love with?

Guitar for sure. Looking at any artist perform with a guitar always made me restless and made me want to do the same.

What kind of music did you love when you were younger?

I listened to a lot of 90s rap, rock, and I was a huge fan of latin music.

What was the first album you remember owning?

The Eminem Show.

What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?

Hotel California. I think the fact that it’s been around for so long kind of diminishes its greatness but if one listens to the song from the perspective of hearing for the first time it is the perfect song. It’s an incredible journey.

Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?

I try to take music a bit as a 9 to 5 job. I sit and force myself to come up with something even though 90% of the time nothing comes out. It’s often frustrating because creativity cannot really be trained but it is a good way to refine the worth ethic. And the moment inspiration kicks in, I think, thanks to that everything flows out smoothly. Thanks to that 9 to 5 you’ll come up with a great song at 1am out of the blue.

Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?

Eagles, Metallica, Adele, Tina Turner, Arctic Monkeys, Dua Lipa, Linda Ronstadt, Bruce Springsteen, Lady Gaga, Julio Iglesias etc.

If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?

Metallica.

What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?

You don’t need to talk about your feelings, you can just sing them out. You don’t need to go with someone or somewhere to be entertained, you can entertain yourself. And then also singing in front of people who enjoy your performance and feeling that energy is an incredibly fulfilling and irreplaceable feeling.

And what is the most frustrating part?

Wanting to make the perfect song. Wanting to make everything about the song perfect. Surviving the creativity and inspiration droughts.

And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?

There will always be someone who will enjoy your music. Never pretend to sing in a way that is not yourself and to not care too much about how perfect one sounds. It is more important that people hear your character than anything else, because looking back we will always have something that we would change or perfect about a song we made. The story will always stay the same.
