London-based indie newcomer SAMLOW steps into the spotlight with 'Magazine', a high-voltage debut that fuses indie-rock bite with electronic pulse and low-end intensity. Built on driving basslines, sharp-edged synths and choruses that linger like static in the air, the single is the sound of an artist who has spent years refining his identity before pressing play.
Born Sam Gino and raised in a working-class home in the Italian Alps, SAMLOW’s musical DNA is rooted in rhythm, inspired by the hum of electricity and the physicality of his father’s trade. Bass remains the backbone of his sound, anchoring a style that sits between alt-rock and new indie wave. After more than a decade touring and recording across Europe, the US, the UK and Australia, 'Magazine' marks the first official transmission of a project defined by restraint, emotional charge, and connection over noise.
So with the new single out now, we sat down with him to find out more about his origins and what has been inspiring him most over the years.

What was the first instrument you fell in love with?
Bass. Bernard Edwards, Peter Hook, John Taylor. That was the spark. Most instruments you hear; bass you feel. It hits the chest before the brain.
What kind of music did you love when you were younger?
Nirvana, GNR, Depeche Mode, New Order. Then I dug back into The Cure, Bowie, Duran Duran, Gary Numan. Plus Italian new wave: Diaframma, early Litfiba. I’m drawn to artists who build a universe, not just songs.
What was the first album you remember owning?
Achtung Baby by U2. Dark, industrial, immersive.
What is the one song you wish you could have written yourself?
Fire by Kasabian. E-Talking by Soulwax. Direct. No overthinking.
Do you have any habits or rituals when writing new music?
Inspiration is everywhere, but discipline is the key element for me. Atmosphere first, lyrics second.
Who are your favourite artists you’ve been listening to at the moment?
Tom Odell, Tom Meighan, Duff McKagan’s solo project. When I need to reset, I go to Bach.
If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?
Depeche Mode. Electronic and organic live energy at the same time.
What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?
The last song of the show, when the room moves as one. And someone telling you a song actually meant something to them.
And what is the most frustrating part?
Ego, admin, competition. It should be all about connection.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve received as a musician?
Done is better than perfect: create your own opportunities.
