Home Counties share new single 'New Best Thing'

Home Counties return with a jolt of swagger and synth-fuelled chaos on new single 'New Best Thing', the latest glimpse into their upcoming second album 'Humdrum', out on the 24th October via Submarine Cat Records. Produced by Al Doyle (Hot Chip, LCD Soundsystem), the track is a heady collision of electroclash attitude and indie-sleaze grit.

Written in a burst of spontaneity, 'New Best Thing' stomps through swung rhythms, stabbing guitars, and squelching synths as vocalists Will Harrison and Lois Kelly dissect the hollowness of consumer-driven self-belief. “It’s about how arrogance is received differently depending on class,” explains Harrison. “The whole thing came together quickly, which gave it this fun, brash immediacy—something we didn’t overthink, which suits the theme.”
